Asian Society of Sport Anthropology
Rules and Regulations

 

1st Article  General Rules (Name and Purpose)

This society is hereby named the ‘Asian Society of Sport Anthropology’ and seeks to contribute to the advancement of sport anthropology research in Asia.
 

2nd Article  Activities of the Society

This society will hold one conference every two years. Moreover, this society will undertake activities such as holding various symposia aimed at spreading and developing sport anthropology in Asia and communicating and cooperating with relevant academic groups.
 

3rd Article  Management and Organization

1 (Officers) This society will employ one Chairman, four Vice Chairmen, and several Directors. The Chairman will represent the society and the Vice Chairmen will represent the Chairman in the event of an emergency or accident.

2 (Chapters) Chapters will be established in the nations (or territories) participating in the Society.

3 (Election of Officers) Each nation (or territory) will separately elect a set number of officers, and the Chairman will be decided through mutual election by mutual vote. Furthermore, each nation (or territory) will appoint one Vice Chairman from among their Directors.

4 (Terms of Officers) Officers will hold office from the day after the last day of a conference to the last day of the following conference (approximately two years). However, there are no restrictions against reappointment.

5 (Official Duties of Officers Convening Conference in their Nation) The Vice Chairman in the nation (or territory) convening a conference will undertake preparations and convene the conference in association with the chapter concerned.

6 (Officer’s Meeting) Issues related to the management of the society will be discussed at the Officer’s Meeting by the Chairman, Vice Chairmen, and Directors.

7 (Secretariat) This Society will establish a Secretariat in charge of undertaking correspondence between members.

8 (Various Meetings) General Meetings and Officer’s Meetings will be held at Conferences. If necessary, the Chairman can call an extraordinary Officer’s Meeting.
 

4th Article  Membership

To apply for membership, one must apply to the chapter in one’s nation (or territory) and obtain their permission. Once membership has been obtained, a member can participate in the Society’s Conference, General Meeting, or any other activities convened by the Society.
 

Memoranda

1 The number of Directors will be set for the present as follows: Japan (4), Korea (4), China (8) (only 4 of these 8 Directors will have the right to elect the Society’s Chairman), and China Taiwan (4).

2 The order of the Society’s Conferences will be held at these locations in the following order: 1) Japan, 2) Korea, 3) China, 4) China Taiwan. The first conference will be held in Japan in 2010.
